We strongly encourage women to continue relationship with their child(ren) during incarceration. It is our goal to provide the opportunity for mother-child visits, as well as yearly photographs of their children. Furthermore, if we learn that children’s needs are unmet (school supplies, clothing, Christmas gifts etc) we do our best to help meet those needs. 

Educational Film Initiative: Life Without

Changed Choices staff member Melissa Mummert recently released a film to raise awareness about the needs of kids with incarcerated parents: Life Without: Youth with Incarcerated Parents Tell Their Own Stories. The 35-minute video is a collection of short films featuring youth with incarcerated parents in Charlotte, NC.

One of the best ways you can help children of our clients and the many other kids with incarcerated parents around Mecklenburg County is to help get the word out.
