The Legal Aid Fund

Changed Choices' clients who have served their time are anxious to return to a normal life. But from time to time, a client finds needs the help of an attorney to regain the rights and responsibilities that are hers. A child may be in the custody of a foster family who resists reunifying a mother with her child. Or a woman may find that in her absence, a friend or family member has used her credit cards illegally.

While we generally will not assist a client with restitution payments or legal bills related to her crime, we do try to help with custody issues and other unusual circumstances. Contributions to the Legal Aid Fund are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law, and funds will be used as available for the most urgent needs. Checks should designate the Legal Aid Fund in the memo line – or click here to make a secure, online contribution to the Fund.
