Where to Start
- Look through the following list of opportunities and decide what fits your strengths and interests.
- Contact Us
- We will reach out to you to discuss your interest and, if necessary, to schedule training based on that interest.
Individual Volunteer Opportunities
- Prayer Team Member – Prayer is vital to all that we do and we need individuals who will agree to pray for us on a regular basis. Become a prayer partner and you will receive a monthly update from us.
- Card Writer – Encouragement is so important to our clients. It means so much when they receive a card or note from someone they do not even know. A card writer simply sends a card or note each month to the dozen women who are most in need of encouragement at that time. An updated list is sent to our card writers.
- Pen Pal - The relationship of a pen pal can make a tremendous difference in the development of the client as she deals with the reality of incarceration and her own past issues. It is often easier to write about things than to speak of them. Pen pals are so important in providing a role model for our client, which typically only happens with extended time to develop trust that allows (and gives the right to) the pen pal to speak into the life of our client.
- Mentor – Mentoring is the foundation for the success in the Changed Choices program. It has been demonstrated that one person who truly cares, and can function as a healthy role model, will make a tremendous difference in the future of one of these women. Our mentors function in a variety of venues – as mentors to a client in transition, as Community Volunteer sponsors at the ECO Center for Women, as Chaplain Aides at the county jail, as a COOOL mentor for adolescent girls and as a participant in the Dove’s Nest volunteer meal program.
- Become involved with Second Helping - Our new business that will hire our clients and provide employment for them needs volunteers who know something about running a food coffee cart/service business especially. Contact SecondHelping@ChangedChoices.org
- Become an adopting group or person for "Families Not Forgotten" - This program seeks to enable better communication and visitation between children and their incarcerated parent. Contact Families@ChangedChoices.org

Group Volunteer Opportunities
Love Out Loud!!!
Love Out Loud is a regular series of dinner events, hosted by volunteers, for the women in transition. It takes place at the transition home at 6:00pm on the second Saturday of every month. Volunteer hosts (individuals or groups) sign up for one month and commit to bringing a meal for the women, as well as preparing an activity for the evening. Activities may include (but are not limited to): arts/crafts, cooking, exercise, homemade spa treatments, watching a movie, or playing games. In facilitating these monthly events, we hope to offer: fellowship, fun, laughter, the chance to relax, bonding among clients, and something for women to look forward to each month amidst the stress and challenges of their everyday lives. We hope to establish a tradition and bring encouragement into the lives of the women. We want them to see, hear, feel and taste the love of Christ… out loud! But we can't do it alone! Please consider joining us.
